#FARMBILLFRIDAY: Rep. Mike Bost (IL-12)

In this week's #FarmBillFriday, Rep. Mike Bost (IL-12) highlights the immense diversity of agricultural products grown in his congressional district and emphasizes the vital importance a farm bill plays in feeding the American population and the world.

"[The farm bill] is vitally important to feed the American population, and the world, and we’re doing that very very well, and as long as we keep working with a farm bill like this, we should be able to do that."

Rep. Bost said [in part]:
For those of you that understand and know what the Illinois 12th is made up of, most of Illinois is that flat, corn, soybean, that type area. We have that in the northern part of the district, but remember it’s a very diverse district.

We have everything from peaches and apples in the south, to the non-traditional crops to specialty crops. We also have rice. So, it’s a very unique district, and that’s why it’s so important that the ag bill is passed and that all of our people that no matter where they work in the ag industry, whether it is with livestock or whether it is with different crops, it’s vitally important to have that safety net of crop insurance.

It’s vitally important to feed the American population, and the world, and we’re doing that very very well, and as long as we keep working with a farm bill like this, we should be able to do that.
