Washington, D.C. - House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member K. Michael Conaway (TX-11) issued the following statement after President Trump signed the Modernizing the Regulatory Framework for Agricultural Biotechnology Products Executive Order:

“Farmers, ranchers and consumers all stand to benefit from a regulatory process that provides certainty, predictability and transparency. I commend President Trump and his team for once again delivering a major win for the agricultural community and for recognizing that a risk-based and science-based regulatory approach can effectively protect consumers, the environment and the livelihoods of producers who rely on biotechnology innovations.

“I would also like to commend Secretary Perdue for moving swiftly to modernize USDA’s biotechnology regulations and will be closely watching the EPA and FDA as they work toward the implementation of the President’s Executive Order. “
