Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Agriculture Committee’s Livestock and Foreign Agriculture Subcommittee held a hearing to examine the implementation of the 2018 Farm Bill’s international food assistance and development programs. After the hearing, Subcommittee Ranking Member David Rouzer (NC-7) and Committee Ranking Member K. Michael Conaway (TX-11) released the following remarks:

“International food assistance and agriculture development programs are an important symbol of American generosity and play a critical role in maintaining American influence in the world. These programs go beyond providing aid to families in need; they build agricultural capacity and stronger international relationships for the U.S. Just as important, these programs provide the much-needed assistance that helps enable communities to develop the resources necessary to stand on their own,” said Subcommittee Ranking Member Rouzer.

“American farmers grow the food that provides much of the critical international food aid the United States delivers. I have seen firsthand the good work these programs do, and I am proud it is done with American agricultural products. I am also glad to see that the implementation of the adjustments we made to these programs in the 2018 Farm Bill is well under way,” said Ranking Member Conaway.
